Localized music video for Disney’s “The Glow”
featuring Sarah Geronimo encourages Filipino children tobelieve in
themselves and follow their dreams.
Disney’s
‘The Glow’, a powerful song of empowerment and self-belief will entertain
Disney Channel audiences in the Philippines on December 6, 2014. The English
language version of this video has been brought to life by popular local talent
Sarah Geronimo.
“The Glow is a crown
jewel in our Disney songbook, a song that truly reflects the unique qualities
of a Disney Princess,” said Natasha Malhotra, General Manager, Branded Media
and Content, The Walt Disney Company Southeast Asia. “Through this song, we
hope to inspire Filipino kids to believe in themselves, follow their dreams and
recognize that true beauty comes from within by being kind and compassionate
just like their very own homegrown Princess, the young, talented and beautiful
Sarah.”
First created in the US
for Rapunzel’s coronation ceremony in 2011, “The Glow” is a song written and
produced for the Disney Princess franchise and soon became widely recognized as
the global Princess anthem. It was originally performed by British singer
Shannon Saunders.
Apart from English,
Disney Channel has also localized the song in Thai, Bahasa Malaysia and Bahasa
Indonesia, performed by popular artistes Oranicha Krinchai (Proud) from
Thailand, Daiyan Trisha from Malaysia, and Chilla Kiana from Indonesia.
The launch of The Glow
music video coincides with a special “I am a Princess” weekend on Disney
Channel, where audiences will be able to enjoy Disney classics such as The
Little Mermaid and Sleeping Beauty.
Sarah’s English
rendition of “The Glow” will premiere across Southeast Asia 6 December at 9am
on Disney Channel.
